Could Clash of Clans, or another major Supercell property, be coming to the big screen? It's more likely than you might think. The Finnish mobile game developer has recently started the search for a senior film and TV development executive, hinting at potential plans to follow in the footsteps of Rovio, who successfully brought Angry Birds to the movies back in 2016.
While it's not a done deal just yet, according to our sister site PocketGamer.biz, the job description suggests a focus on developing a strategy for live-action and animated films, as well as theatrical and streaming distribution. This indicates a more strategic, watch-and-wait approach rather than an immediate dive into film production. However, it's reasonable to assume that Supercell might already be sketching out preliminary ideas should they decide to move forward with film or animation projects.
Supercell has been pushing boundaries with their game catalog, engaging in crossovers and collaborations, such as with the WWE. This trend suggests that expanding into film could be a natural progression for the developer.
It's worth noting that the Angry Birds movie was released seven years after the game's debut. Despite the time that has passed since Clash of Clans was first released, the game still boasts a strong following. Additionally, Supercell's newer IPs, like Mo.co, could be leveraged for more family-oriented movie projects.
Only time will tell how this develops. In the meantime, if you're looking for something to keep you entertained, why not check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week?
