As the Capcom Pro Tour takes a well-deserved break, we've already identified all 48 participants set to compete in Capcom Cup 11. While the focus is often on the players themselves, let's shift our attention to the Street Fighter 6 characters they've chosen to represent them on the world stage.
Following the conclusion of the World Warrior circuit, EventHubs provided us with comprehensive statistics on the most popular characters among top-tier players. These stats serve as a reliable indicator of the current game balance. Remarkably, all 24 characters in the roster were selected, showcasing the diversity and depth of the game. However, in a surprising twist, out of nearly 200 players, only one dared to pick Ryu. Even Terry Bogard, the newest addition to the lineup, found favor with two players.
Leading the pack on the professional scene are Cammy, Ken, and M. Bison, each chosen by 17 players. These characters dominate the scene, reflecting their versatility and effectiveness in competitive play. A notable gap follows, with Akuma being the next most popular, selected by 12 players. Close behind are Ed and Luke, both with 11 players, and JP and Chun-Li, each chosen by 10 players. Among the less frequently picked characters, Zangief, Guile, and Juri still managed to be the main choice for seven players each.
As we look forward to Capcom Cup 11, set to take place this March in Tokyo, the stakes couldn't be higher. The champion will walk away with a staggering prize of one million dollars, making this event one of the most anticipated in the fighting game community.
