Why a Kindle Is Worth the Investment

I've been using the Kindle since its earliest model, and not only do I prefer it to any other reading method, but I've found myself reading more than I would with traditional paper books. There's nothing wrong with paper books, but I appreciate the ease of use and form factor that the Kindle offers.

Kindles use e-ink technology, which is different from traditional screens like those on your phone or iPad. This means you can read in virtually any lighting condition. The pages look like actual paper, so artificial light or bright sunlight won't hinder your reading experience. The Kindle only consumes energy when you turn the page, use the backlight, or leave Wi-Fi on. In Airplane mode, you can go weeks, even months, without needing to charge it. I often go so long between charges that I forget where I've left my charging cable.
