I have ambitious plans for Memorial Day weekend, aiming to tackle some shopping. While I don't typically buy much during Memorial Day sales, the current uncertainty around tariffs and prices in the U.S. has me thinking I should make my purchases now rather than wait to see if prices increase. More specifically, I've wanted to upgrade my gaming setup for years, and it's beginning to feel like a now-or-never situation.
Most Memorial Day sales have been active since last week, and I've mainly been browsing the Wayfair sale for various furniture pieces. I'm particularly interested in a new office chair, a desk, and a nice bookcase for my game collection. So far, the Wayfair sale has been the easiest website to navigate. I’ve also checked out IGN's top picks for gaming chairs and desks to expand my search to other popular brands.
If you're considering upgrading your own gaming setup or home office during these sales, here are my suggestions for getting started.
Begin with the Wayfair Sale

Wayfair Memorial Day sale

While Amazon's Memorial Day sale offers discounts on nearly everything, Wayfair appears to have the best deals on furniture. I recommend starting here due to the sheer volume of offers and the ease of filtering products to show only Memorial Day deals. You can also use filters to narrow down categories by dimensions, material, color, price, and more. Even if you don't end up buying anything, it's a great way to figure out exactly what you want for your space. I've bought bookshelves, rugs, lamps, and tables from Wayfair and generally recommend them for such items.
That said, Wayfair doesn't always carry the top brands. Their prices are generally good for standard furniture, but it might not be the best source for a high-end office chair or a desk designed specifically for gaming.
Splurge Only on Comfort
If you're upgrading your entire setup, I recommend splurging only on the chair. I'm still deciding which chair to buy, but I know it will be my biggest expense. My current office chair is literally falling apart, held together with a pair of sweatpants wrapped around it. Any replacement would be an improvement, but since I plan to use this chair for both work and gaming, I'm being selective. I haven't decided between a gaming chair and an office chair, but IGN recommends the Secretlab Titan Evo, and I'm very tempted, especially with the current Secretlab sale.

Buy Your Accessories on Amazon
The final, and perhaps most important, step is personalizing your gaming setup. This includes RGB lighting, mouse pads, laptop stands, headset holders, Steam Deck docks, and other accessories that make your battle station uniquely yours. For these items, I've found that Amazon usually has the best prices. Sure, Wayfair might have a cardboard cutout of Darth Vader on sale, but for everything else, Amazon has been my go-to.

The Biggest Sale
Amazon Memorial Day Sale

Although I don't plan to buy a TV myself, it's worth noting that Amazon also has some of the best Memorial Day TV deals I've seen. Notably, the LG C4 has hit a new all-time low on Amazon, making it an excellent gaming TV for both console and PC gamers.
Upgrade Your Gaming PC While You Can
I don't currently own a good gaming PC and have no room in my budget for one right now. I primarily game on my Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch, which offers great portability but lacks in performance. I'd love to upgrade to a new PC with an RTX 5090, but with GPU prices rising and a potential Switch 2 purchase on the horizon, it doesn't seem feasible for me at the moment.
That said, if you're in the market for a new gaming laptop or PC, Memorial Day sales are an excellent time to shop. I'd suggest checking out the Dell Memorial Day sale first, but you can also find discounts at HP, Lenovo, Best Buy, and more. Here are the major sales I've found in that category.
