Summary

  • Renzik "The Shiv" meets his end in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.
  • Gazlowe spearheads a revolution following Renzik's sacrifice, aiming to overthrow Gallywix in the Liberation of Undermine raid.
  • Gallywix's fate hangs in the balance as the final boss in the new raid.

In the unfolding story campaign of World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, titled "Undermined," a dramatic event occurs: Renzik "The Shiv" is fatally struck by a sniper's bullet intended for Gazlowe, orchestrated by Gallywix. Renzik, a beloved Goblin Rogue who has been part of the game since its inception, becomes a pivotal figure in the patch's narrative arc.

World of Warcraft has recently introduced Patch 11.1 for testing on the Public Test Realm, offering players an early glimpse into the new content. This includes exploring new collectibles like campsites and venturing into Undermine, the Goblin capital. Players accompany Gazlowe, the leader of the Horde-aligned Bilgewater Cartel, and Renzik "The Shiv," a key member of the Alliance's SI:7 spy network, on a mission to stop Gallywix and secure the Dark Heart before Xal’atath. Despite Gazlowe's initial reluctance to engage with Undermine's political turmoil, Renzik's belief in Gazlowe's potential to lead the city forward drives their mission forward. Tragically, their efforts to foil Gallywix's plans lead to a sniper's attempt on Gazlowe's life, which Renzik heroically intercepts. This poignant moment was captured and shared by World of Warcraft fan and Wowhead lore analyst Portergauge on Twitter.

Renzik "The Shiv" Dies in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1

While Renzik may not be the most central character in World of Warcraft, he is well-known, particularly among Alliance Rogues. As one of the earliest Rogue quest givers and trainers in Stormwind when the game launched two decades ago, Renzik is one of the oldest Goblin NPCs in the game, predating playable Goblins by six years.

His death, however, ignites a significant shift in the storyline. Renzik's sacrifice galvanizes Gazlowe, who becomes determined to stop Gallywix at all costs. This determination leads Gazlowe to rally the other Trade Princes and the citizens of Undermine, sparking a revolution that culminates in the Liberation of Undermine raid. Ironically, Gallywix's assassination attempt on Gazlowe results in Renzik becoming a martyr, fueling the uprising.

Furthermore, Renzik's death might not be the only significant loss in Patch 11.1. Gallywix, dubbed the Chrome King, serves as the final boss in the Liberation of Undermine raid. Although the raid won't be accessible until the patch's official release, historical trends suggest that final raid bosses rarely survive encounters with World of Warcraft players, hinting that Gallywix's reign could soon come to an end.
