After a brief stint on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is shutting down operations. Activision has announced that this mobile adaptation of the popular battle royale will no longer see any seasonal updates or fresh content. As of May 18th, the game has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play. Real-money transactions have been halted, and if you haven't downloaded the app by the deadline, you'll miss out on playing it altogether.
This abrupt closure marks a disappointing end to what was meant to be a groundbreaking mobile entry in the Warzone series, designed to offer the full Warzone experience to mobile gamers. Despite the studio's pride in replicating Warzone's essence on mobile platforms, the game didn't resonate with the mobile audience as successfully as its PC and console counterparts.
For those who have already installed the game, you can continue to play online even after May 19th. Matchmaking and online gameplay will persist for the time being, though social features will be turned off, and there's no set date for when the servers will shut down completely. The in-game store will still be accessible, but only for spending existing COD Points; new purchases are no longer possible.
As a gesture of goodwill, players with unused COD Points in Warzone Mobile can transfer them to Call of Duty: Mobile. By logging into Call of Duty: Mobile with the same Activision account, you'll receive double the value of your remaining Warzone Mobile COD Points, plus some extra perks, until August 15th.
If you haven't installed or reinstalled the game by May 19th, this is your final chance. Post-deadline, no refunds will be available, and access to the game will be permanently lost. It's a stark reminder that even the most renowned franchises can struggle to find lasting success in the mobile gaming space.
