Marvel's Thunderbolts Adds Wolverine, Hulk, Carnage

With the Thunderbolts preparing for their live-action debut, Marvel Comics is unleashing major plans for the team on the printed page. The current roster plays a pivotal role in the One World Under Doom event, while an all-new Thunderbolts team will emerge shortly after the movie's release.

Marvel has unveiled New Thunderbolts*, a series penned by Sam Humphries (Uncanny X-Force) with art by Toni Lima (West Coast Avengers) and cover designs by Stephen Segovia. Peek at Issue #1's cover below:

While the series clearly connects to the movie - featuring Bucky Barnes as leader and the enigmatic asterisk in its title - the lineup diverges significantly from the cinematic team. This explosive roster introduces Thunderbolts newcomers Clea, Wolverine (Laura Kinney), Namor, Hulk, and Carnage (currently bonded to ex-Venom Eddie Brock).

The story kicks off when Bucky Barnes and Black Widow confront an existential crisis: rogue Illuminati doppelgängers threatening reality. Assembling this powerhouse team of volatile antiheroes proves more challenging than anticipated as they tackle the impending catastrophe.

"I love every iteration of Thunderbolts," Humphries stated in Marvel's announcement. "This continues the franchise's legacy of brutal action, combustible personalities, and earth-shaking reveals. We've gathered seven of Marvel's most dangerous wildcards - imagine the most chaotic dinner party of antiheroes and you'll understand our approach."

"Working with Humphries on this squad is electrifying," Lima added. "These characters don't negotiate - they demolish everything in their path. That raw energy makes every panel thrilling to illustrate."
