Conquer the Lifer: A Wuthering Waves 2.0 Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0's Rinascita region introduces challenging new Tacet Discords, including the Lifer—a formidable variant of the Chop Chop found in Oakheart Highcourt's maze. This guide details how to overcome this unique enemy.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. Access is initially limited; a convenient entry point lies southwest, near the Resonance Beacon. Climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach the maze.

The Lifer's Board Game Challenge

Inside, you'll find the Lifer beside a six-piece board game. The goal: connect three of your black pieces before the Lifer connects its white ones. Positioning black pieces on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. You can exit and resume the game at any time. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for debuffing the Lifer. Avoid winning before removing buffs, as the Lifer will immediately attack.

Stripping the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer boasts seven buffs; four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance. A glowing yellow module behind the Lifer displays these buffs.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without taking damage.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% DMG increase every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG dealt (stacks to 4). Stacks reset after 6 seconds without dealing DMG.
  • Decay of Time: 200% increased resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc). 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

Use the Sensor tool near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to Stakes of Imbalance in outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates, then navigate to each room (some require Tacet Discord defeats or Friable Rock destruction). Each Stake (marked with a white glow) removes a corresponding buff when placed in the module near its associated winged statue. A yellow line indicates a removed buff.

The Final Confrontation

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer (either by winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!"). A significantly weakened Lifer awaits, posing minimal threat.

Rewards for defeating the Lifer:

  • 1st Victory: Premium Supply Chest
  • 2nd Victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
  • 3rd Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests

You can re-enable buffs for a greater challenge, though no achievements are tied to this.

Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Defeat the Lifer three times for all nine chests.
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on disrupting the Lifer's attempts to create a line; it will eventually make a mistake.
