After a strong Xbox Developer Direct to kick off 2025, Microsoft's future looks bright with its impressive lineup of first-party studios. Whether you're reminiscing about the glory days of the Xbox 360 or eagerly anticipating Microsoft's expanding library on other platforms like PlayStation, there's no shortage of excitement around Xbox game series. With Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, the pool of legendary game series has grown even larger. This tier list focuses on series with multiple entries, reflecting both current relevance and historical impact.
Here's a personal tier list of Xbox game series, ranked based on enjoyment over the years:
Simon Cardy's Xbox Games Series Tier List
S Tier:
- Doom: The recent entries stand out as some of the best first-person shooters I've played. The upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages looks promising, indicating id Software's continued excellence.
- Forza Horizon: Outside of classics like Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, Forza Horizon offers some of the most thrilling racing experiences.
A Tier:
- Halo: While Halo 2 and Halo 3 are among the finest campaign shooters, recent entries have been inconsistent, keeping it just below the top tier.
- Fallout: I prefer the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout over the fantasy realms of Elder Scrolls. Power armor over dragons, any day!
If you disagree or have a different favorite, perhaps you're a staunch supporter of Gears of War or have fond memories of Fuzion Frenzy, feel free to create your own tier list. Compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community.
