Six Beloved Cartoon Network Games Vanish from Stores

Warner Bros. Discovery's sudden removal of several Cartoon Network and Adult Swim games has sparked outrage among fans. Without explanation, titles including Steven Universe: Save the Light and Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time have been delisted from platforms like Steam and the Nintendo eShop. This digital purge affects at least six games, leaving players unable to legally purchase these beloved titles.

This action is linked to Warner Bros. Discovery's cost-cutting measures, previously seen in the shelving of films and removal of content from streaming services. A similar delisting event in March 2024, involving Adult Swim games like Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, caused significant backlash, leading to some titles being reinstated. However, this latest round of removals, which includes Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest (originally released in 2014), has not been accompanied by any official statement.

The delistings, discovered on December 23rd, affected several games across various platforms. These include:

  • Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest
  • Adventure Time: Magic Man's Head Games
  • OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes
  • Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time
  • Steven Universe: Save the Light
  • Steven Universe: Unleash the Light

While some Cartoon Network games remain available (e.g., Cartoon Network Journeys VR), the lack of explanation from Warner Bros. Discovery, Cartoon Network Games, and Adult Swim Games has fueled fan frustration. The removal of Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is particularly contentious, as it contains the canonical ending to the show's fifth season. The absence of a clear reason for these delistings, coupled with the precedent set by the March incident, only intensifies the controversy.
