A new update is now live for Dune: Awakening, bringing further refinements to enhance the endgame for players who favor PvE activities. Key additions include expanded access to Tier 6 resources and improved odds of obtaining Unique items from PvE loot in the Deep Desert.
Previously, Funcom significantly expanded the PvE zone within the Deep Desert, increasing its coverage from roughly 10% to 50% of the map. This move followed a community AMA where the developers acknowledged player frustrations with the endgame, stating they were "formulating a plan" to improve the PvP experience in the Deep Desert. Some players had criticized the endgame as "toxic," citing persistent griefing issues even after a patch intended to remove the ability for players to crush each other with their Ornithopters. Later, griefers found new methods, such as intentionally landing their Ornithopters on others' vehicles to block resource farming.
The last major update, version 1.1.10.00, delivered numerous changes. While it didn't directly address endgame concerns at that time, it included several quality-of-life improvements. The latest patch, however, features an entire section of notes dedicated to the Deep Desert, endgame content, and the Landsraad system.
The increased availability of Tier 6 resources in PvE areas of the Deep Desert is a particularly welcome change. Despite the earlier zone rebalancing, consistently finding these high-tier minerals still often required venturing into dangerous PvP territories. This adjustment allows players to gather the resources they need without constantly risking their survival.
PvP enthusiasts also receive attention in this update. One key change increases the delay for leaving a PvP security zone from 5 to 30 seconds. This adjustment aims to reduce border camping and give players more time to defend their territory.
