The Last of Us 3: Still a Possibility?

by Owen Apr 18,2025

Fans of The Last of Us series were still reeling from Neil Druckmann's recent statement suggesting that a new game might not be in the works when a ray of hope emerged. Insider Daniel Richtman has claimed that not only is the next installment in development, but actors have already been cast, and some scenes have reportedly been filmed.

Given the ambiguous nature of Druckmann's earlier comments, these rumors could carry some weight. When Druckmann mentioned there would be "no next The Last of Us", it's possible he was alluding to an already-in-progress sequel. It's worth noting that he has made similar statements in the past—right before the announcement of Part II. However, it's important to consider that Richtman has a history of inaccurate leaks.

Despite the uncertainty, it is confirmed that a concept for a new installment does exist. As for an official announcement or any other news, Naughty Dog might be holding off to keep the focus on their upcoming new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
