The story of "The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel: Northern War," set in the Northumbria Autonomous Province in northwestern Zemuria, unfolds between the events of "Trails of Cold Steel II" and "Trails of Cold Steel III." This "Northern Campaign" follows Lavie, a female hunter of the TV anime's "Northern Jaegers."
The year is 1205 of the Septian Calendar.
Lavie is a girl born and raised in the Northumbria Autonomous Province, located in the northwest of the Zemuria continent.
To protect her homeland and prove herself different from her grandfather Vlad—once a revered hero who betrayed his nation—she volunteered for the continent's largest hunter corps, the "Northern Jaegers," and has carried out her duties faithfully.
One day, Lavie, whose reckless dedication to duty often breaches discipline, is forced to team up with fellow Jaegers Marty, Iseria, and Talion for a dangerous espionage mission into the Erebonian Empire.
Their objective: to gather intelligence on the mysterious "Hero of the Empire," a potential threat to Northumbria.
