The Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems offer real-time glucose readings every five minutes for individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes (ages 2 and up). These systems eliminate the need for fingerstick calibrations* and provide crucial alerts to manage diabetes effectively.
Key features include personalized trend alerts, indicating high or low glucose levels, directly on your smart device. The Alert Schedule feature (not available on the G6 Pro) allows for customized alert settings based on your daily routine. You can choose from various alert sounds, including a vibrate-only option, though the Urgent Low Alarm remains always active.
The Always Sound setting (default on) ensures critical alerts—including Urgent Low, Low, High, Urgent Low Soon, Rise, and Fall Rate alerts—are received even with your phone silenced or in Do Not Disturb mode. A home screen icon clearly indicates whether alerts are audible. Crucially, the Urgent Low Alarm and alerts for Transmitter Failure, Sensor Failure, and App Stoppage cannot be disabled.
Additional features include:
- Real-time data sharing: Share your glucose data with up to ten followers using the Dexcom Follow app (requires internet connection).
- Health Connect integration: Share retrospective glucose data with compatible third-party apps.
- Quick Glance: View glucose data directly on your smart device's lock screen.
