"New Alien: Earth Trailer Unveils Xenomorph Design, Nods to Ridley Scott’s 1979 Classic"

A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, giving fans an unprecedented glimpse into the upcoming show. The trailer, initially showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared by @CineGeekNews on X/Twitter. It depicts the harrowing journey of a spaceship's survivors, ravaged by a Xenomorph, as they hurtle towards Earth.

The trailer offers a thrilling new look at the Xenomorph design and underscores the striking similarity of Alien: Earth's aesthetic to Ridley Scott's 1979 classic. Scenes set in a MU/TH/UR control room reminiscent of the Nostromo heighten the tension, as a crew member desperately seeks help while the Xenomorph closes in. Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly reports the "specimens are loose," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship's course for Earth. The trailer then transitions to show six soldiers advancing towards what appears to be the crashed vessel, hinting at their grim fate.

This glimpse into Alien: Earth raises numerous questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives him? Did any other crew members make it out alive? Were any impregnated by the Xenomorph? And how will the soldiers meet their end?

Alien: Earth is set to explore these mysteries, following a young woman (played by Sydney Chandler) and a group of tactical soldiers as they make a chilling discovery that confronts them with Earth's most formidable threat. The series is slated to premiere on Disney+ this summer.

Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth slots into the Alien timeline just after Prometheus and two years before the events of the original Alien. This placement has sparked fan theories that the series might depict the Nostromo's departure from Earth or shed light on how Weyland-Yutani Corporation learned about the Xenomorphs. For context, the recently released Alien: Romulus is an interquel set between Alien and Aliens.

Showrunner Noah Hawley has shared insights into his creative decisions, notably his choice to diverge from the backstory established in Prometheus. Hawley, who consulted with Ridley Scott on various aspects of the Alien universe, opted for the "retro-futurism" of the original films over the bioweapon narrative of the prequels.

Alien: Earth is set to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025, with Alien: Romulus 2 also in development, promising more thrilling additions to the Alien saga.
