In the typically self-serving world of hero shooters, *Marvel Rivals* flips the script with assist-focused challenges. However, racking up assists isn't always straightforward. This guide breaks down how to earn assists and highlights the best characters to use.
How to Get Assists in Marvel Rivals
Unlike many games where damage contributes to assists, Marvel Rivals has a stricter definition. The assists counter only increases when you directly aid teammates. Dealing damage, even significant damage, won't grant you an assist. Instead, focus on support actions: healing allies, shielding them, or incapacitating enemies to set up kills for your team.
This system naturally favors healers and tanks, making them ideal for completing assist-based challenges. If you're a damage-dealer, you might need to adjust your playstyle for a few matches to meet these objectives. Fortunately, several characters excel at providing the necessary support.
Best Characters for Assists in Marvel Rivals
Jeff the Land Shark
While not the most potent Strategist, Jeff's bubbles and stream offer considerable healing flexibility. The more you heal your teammates, the more opportunities they'll have to secure kills, boosting your assist count.
Mantis
Mantis is arguably the best support character for racking up assists. Her healing abilities combined with Spore Slumber (which puts enemies to sleep) create excellent kill-setup opportunities. The only challenge is securing her early in a match.
Peni Parker
For those who prefer tanking over healing, Peni Parker is an excellent choice. Her Cyber-Web Snare immobilizes enemies, making them easy targets for your damage-dealing teammates.
Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange's powerful shield provides crucial protection for allies, keeping them alive to finish off enemies and thus increasing your assist count.
Storm
Among Duelists, Storm stands out. Her Weather Control ability enhances allies' damage and speed, making it easier for them to eliminate enemies and contribute to your assist tally.
