- Play in handheld or wireless mode
- Compact design with full-sized joysticks
- Convenient Backbone companion app
After the Backbone One 2nd-gen controller added support for the iPhone 16 last year, the company is now pushing boundaries with the Backbone Pro. This next-generation controller works wirelessly via Bluetooth or connects directly to your device using USB-C.
The wired connection promises zero latency and removes the need to charge the controller, while wireless operation offers greater portability and flexibility. Notably, the Backbone Pro works with phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, and even VR headsets.
It's designed as a universal controller solution, with FlowState Technology enabling seamless switching between previously paired devices. The development team worked extensively to create the smallest form factor that still accommodates full-size joysticks—an impressive engineering achievement.

The controller also includes customization options and remappable back buttons, along with the handy Backbone app. Through the app, you can access games from Apple Arcade, Netflix, Xbox Remote Play, Steam Link, and Nvidia GeForce NOW. Backbone+ subscribers get additional access to a library of free games.
"We believe the future of gaming transcends individual devices," says Maneet Khaira, Founder and CEO of Backbone. "With Backbone Pro, you can experience the excitement and connection of gaming on any screen with just a single device."
