Weaknesses, Resistances, and Immunities
The Quematrice, a giant chicken-like monster reminiscent of a Cockatrice, primarily attacks with fire. While it forgoes petrification, its fiery breath is a significant threat. Most weapons are effective against this mid-sized beast, but its area-of-effect attacks might favor ranged weapons for less experienced hunters.

- Immunities: Sonic Bomb
Dangerous Attacks to Watch Out For
While its tail sweeps and strikes can inflict damage, the most potent attack is the tail slam. The Quematrice raises its tail high before slamming it down. Sidestepping or blocking effectively counters this. However, its fire attacks are the real danger, not only dealing direct damage but also inflicting burning, which drains health, and igniting the ground.
These fire attacks lack a clear tell. One involves rearing its head, roaring, and flinging a flame from its tail. Another is a full sweep after a roar, engulfing its surroundings in fire. It can also incorporate fire into a charging attack, running towards you before turning to unleash a fiery blast. For ranged hunters, retreating during this charge is crucial.
How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

To capture the Quematrice, prepare accordingly. Bring Shock Traps, Pitfall Traps, and at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap suffices, having a backup is highly recommended.
Once the Quematrice is significantly weakened (limping, or its skull icon disappears from the minimap), lay a trap. Ideally, wait until it moves to a new area after limping away for easier capture. Lure it into the trap, toss two Tranq Bombs, and secure your prize.
