The classic RPG, Breath of Fire IV, has made a triumphant return to PC, a remarkable 25 years after its initial debut. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, followed by Europe in 2001, the game saw a PC release in Europe and Japan in 2003. This beloved title follows the journey of Ryu, a protagonist with the unique ability to transform into a dragon, as he and his fellow warriors strive to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions.
Thanks to GOG's ongoing Preservation Program, Breath of Fire IV has been meticulously updated for contemporary PCs and is now available DRM-free on their platform. This enhanced version is fully optimized for modern systems, ensuring compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. Players can enjoy both English and Japanese localizations, alongside improved graphics powered by an upgraded DirectX renderer. The game also features new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction for enhanced visuals. Additionally, the audio engine has been upgraded, restoring missing environmental sounds and offering new configuration options for a more immersive experience.
