In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll carve a path through ancient China, battling alongside powerful warlords. But eventually, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. This guide explains how to navigate the faction selection process.
Understanding Factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*
The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, acting independently. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate, without formally committing to a side.
Chapter 3 marks a turning point. You'll be prompted to choose a faction. Before making your decision, the game provides additional battles to help you get a feel for each warlord's style and goals.
To ally with a faction, you must complete a specific number of missions: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Once you meet the requirement for a faction, a new mission will trigger, forcing you to choose an alliance. If you've completed a faction's missions, that faction will be selectable; otherwise, it will be unavailable. You can, of course, complete missions for all factions before making your final choice.
Your choice is permanent. Once you select a faction, the others become inaccessible. You can no longer accept side quests from their officers, limiting your opportunities to bond with them and potentially impacting the difficulty of your campaign. For example, allying with Liu Bei, who initially has fewer commanding officers, might result in fewer opportunities to earn skill points.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, create a save file before selecting your allegiance. This allows you to replay the game with different factions.
That's how to choose your faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
