Ready to conquer the Chatacabra, that long-tongued menace in *Monster Hunter Wilds*? This guide will walk you through both killing and capturing this early-game foe, ensuring you become a Chatacabra-hunting expert.
How to Beat Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Weaknesses: Ice, Thunder
Resistances: N/A
Immunities: Sonic Bomb
The Chatacabra, a large frog-like monster, primarily uses close-range tongue attacks. It may also rush you from a distance. While any weapon works, the Chatacabra's smaller size makes weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade slightly less effective due to their multi-hit attacks being less efficient against smaller targets.
Most attacks involve its tongue, making the front a dangerous zone. Besides its licking attack, it slams its front limbs into the ground after a noticeable rearing-up animation. The only significant attack from a distance involves it raising its head and sweeping its tongue behind it.
The optimal strategy is to stay to its sides, dodging or blocking its slam attack. Utilizing its elemental weaknesses (Ice and Thunder) will significantly speed up the fight.
How to Capture Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds follows a consistent process. The Chatacabra, thankfully, can't fly. You'll need a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap, and two Tranquilizer Bombs. However, bringing one of each trap and eight Tranq Bombs is recommended for unforeseen circumstances.
Battle the Chatacabra until its icon on the minimap displays a skull, indicating its final retreat. Follow it, set your trap, and lure it in. Once trapped, use two Tranq Bombs to capture it.
