In the latest buzz about remakes—or if you prefer, the exciting news of yet another Stephen King adaptation—Netflix is gearing up to unleash a new version of the classic tale, Cujo. According to Deadline, the streaming giant has enlisted Vertigo Entertainment founder and producer Roy Lee to helm the project. However, the film is still in its infancy, with no writers, directors, or cast members attached yet.
Stephen King's novel Cujo was first published in 1981 and swiftly adapted into a cult classic horror movie in 1983 by Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner, directed by Lewis Teague. The gripping story centers on a determined mother, portrayed by Dee Wallace, who is trapped in a car with her young son as they face a terrifying ordeal. Their vehicle's engine fails, leaving them vulnerable to Cujo, a once-friendly dog turned deadly after a rabid bat bite. As the rabid dog stalks them from outside, the mother and son must battle not only Cujo but also the looming threat of heatstroke.
