Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play action RPG that incorporates extraction-shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha test begins on January 25th for European players, followed by North American players on February 1st.
"We've fused the high-stakes tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with deep ARPG combat," stated Game Director Andrei Cirkulete. "It feels like the offspring of Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. We can't wait for player feedback." Players assume the role of a Death's Messenger, striving to restore order to a shattered world.
They will explore maps, facing off against both AI enemies and other players. Successfully extracting from a mission lets you keep your spoils, while failure means losing all collected loot.
The game will feature base building, extensive gear customization, and diverse playstyle experimentation. Its world draws inspiration from global mythologies, with a player-driven trading system forming the core of its economy.
Initial adventures are set in "Destiny's Edge," a realm inspired by Scandinavian folklore. Although the project is in early alpha, the developers plan to work closely with the community to shape and improve the experience.
