BioWare has largely moved on from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but the remaining team is quietly adding a small weapon DLC pack to the game.
Dragon Age fans were surprised to see the RPG's Steam page updated with free add-on content called the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer yesterday. While it's a modest addition, it’s a welcome one, especially since EA had previously indicated that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would receive limited future support. After the game’s fifth patch in January confirmed that updates would mainly address critical bugs, new content—however small—feels like a pleasant surprise.

Interestingly, the Rook’s Weapons Appearances bundle is only available to current owners of the game and those who purchase it on PC by April 8, 2025. There’s no detailed description of what’s included, but players have discovered that it unlocks a collection of Watchful weapon skins accessible from the Rook’s in-game quarters. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions.
“Even if these weapon skins aren't the most visually stunning,” one Steam reviewer noted, “they definitely deliver a haunting, eldritch horror atmosphere!”
“It’s cosmetic DLC, but since it’s essentially free for a game that’s no longer receiving major updates, I’m perfectly happy with it,” shared a Reddit user.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to generally favorable reviews last October, but according to EA, it didn’t “connect with a wide enough audience.” Key developers shared plans to depart BioWare by late January, as many staff were either laid off or reassigned to other roles across the company. At the time, EA informed IGN that the studio was repositioning to devote its “full attention” to the next Mass Effect title.
In March 2025, Dragon Age: The Veilguard became part of the PlayStation Plus monthly lineup, just four months after its initial release. No further content or updates have been announced since.
