The Yellow Orb is located in Merchantburg, a town initially marked as "???" on the map. Its name is determined by the merchant you establish the town with. Therefore, you must first establish and develop this village.
Finding Merchantburg (???)
After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), Merchantburg's location becomes accessible. With quest markers enabled, you'll find it in the northeast corner of the world map. Sailing west from the coast will lead you to the easternmost edge of the eastern continent.
Optimal Timing for Merchantburg
While orb acquisition order is flexible, establishing Merchantburg early is recommended. The town requires time to grow before yielding the Yellow Orb. Starting early allows you to pursue other orbs concurrently, returning to Merchantburg as needed.
Obtaining the Yellow Orb
Establishing Merchantburg:
- Hire a new merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Minimize combat en route to protect your new party member.
- In Merchantburg's sole building, speak to the old man. He'll require a merchant to found the town – this is where you assign your newly hired merchant.
- Your merchant will leave your party and establish the town, revealing its official name.
Returning to Merchantburg:
Merchantburg undergoes five growth stages, each signaled by a notification prompting a return visit. The town expands with each visit, culminating in a large cabaret. After visiting the cabaret, be wary of the security guard attempting to overcharge you.
During your fourth visit, you'll notice growing discontent among the townsfolk towards your merchant. This signals the climax of their rule and the impending availability of the Yellow Orb.
Acquiring the Yellow Orb:
Visit Merchantburg at night during your fifth visit. You'll find the merchant missing. The townsfolk have revolted, imprisoning him in the house south of his former residence.
Speak to the imprisoned merchant to learn the Yellow Orb's location. Return to the merchant's house; a quest marker will appear behind the sofa. Interact with the ground behind the sofa to uncover the Yellow Orb.
The Yellow Orb is typically the penultimate orb acquired. Other orb locations include: the Red Orb (Pirates' Den), the Green Orb (Theddon), and the Silver Orb (Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine).
