Earth vs. Mars Announced by Company of Heroes Developer Relic Entertainment

by Sebastian Apr 21,2025

Relic Entertainment, the masterminds behind *Company of Heroes*, are venturing into new territory with their upcoming game, *Earth vs. Mars*. This smaller-scale, turn-based strategy game is set to launch this Summer on PC via Steam, bringing a fresh twist to the genre inspired by the beloved Nintendo DS classic, *Advance Wars*.

In *Earth vs. Mars*, players are tasked with defending our planet from a full-scale Martian invasion. The game introduces a unique mechanic called the Splice-O-Tron, allowing players to create "bizarre and powerful creature-human hybrids" to combat the alien threat. Imagine commanding a Squirrel-Cow, Human-Rhino, or Cheetah-Fly hybrid into battle! According to Relic, "For decades, Martians have been secretly visiting Earth, abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, they’ve returned with a full-scale invasion, and it’s up to a ragtag group of commanders to lead Earth’s resistance."

The game promises an extensive 30+ mission single-player campaign, where players will command Earth’s military against high-tech Martian saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors. For those who enjoy competition, *Earth vs. Mars* offers online multiplayer, allowing you to play as either faction, a VS Mode to test your skills against the game's AI, and a map editor for endless creativity.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell shared, "We are excited to bring a Relic Twist to the *Advance Wars* style of gameplay, infusing some Relic DNA, while harkening back to some of our earlier titles." He also mentioned that alongside their traditional RTS titles, Relic is exploring smaller Indie-style games to delve into new sub-genres, experiment, and release games more frequently. If *Earth vs. Mars* piques your interest, you can wishlist it on Steam to stay updated on its release.
