Developer FromSoftware has completed a new round of server maintenance for Elden Ring: Nightreign, aimed at optimizing the matchmaking experience.
During the game's launch weekend, FromSoftware recognized matchmaking challenges in Elden Ring: Nightreign and recommended potential fixes for affected players, such as restarting the matchmaking process and verifying their NAT type—especially on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Following server upkeep on June 6, which was intended to "enhance expedition matchmaking with an active Remembrance," online features are now back up, and players anticipate smoother performance.
"Thank you for your patience, Nightfarers," FromSoftware stated. "Limveld awaits."
Despite these challenges, Elden Ring: Nightreign sold 3.5 million copies within its first five days. The original Elden Ring was a blockbuster success, reaching 30 million copies sold since its 2022 launch, a benchmark likely out of reach for Nightreign. For perspective, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sold 5 million copies in its first three days in 2024.
Nightreign's Steam user reviews have also climbed from 'Mixed' to 'Mostly Positive.' Early criticisms often focused on its punishing solo difficulty, absence of two-player co-op, no voice chat, and other dated design elements.
However, a recent update from FromSoftware has made the solo campaign considerably more accessible, and a Duos mode has been officially confirmed to be in development.
