At Droid Gamers, we review all kinds of hardware, but a projector is something new for us. The Formovie Episode One projector caught our attention as an interesting way to stream mobile games on a larger display.
Positioned as an affordable option in a typically expensive market, the Episode One delivers on that promise – and then some. Though it's not without its flaws.
The package includes the projector itself, a remote (batteries not included), power cable, and instruction manual. While it has decent weight, it doesn't feel as substantial as premium projectors - but this makes it highly portable at just three pounds.
The connectivity options are somewhat limited: a single USB-A port, one HDMI input, and an audio jack. While some might find this restrictive, it's understandable given the price point and should satisfy most basic needs.
Performance-wise, the Episode One holds its own considering its budget status. With 150 ISO lumens brightness, it won't compete with high-end laser projectors.

During testing, we found it struggled in bright daylight but performed adequately in darker environments (as one would expect). Both movies and TV shows displayed clearly, and game streaming worked surprisingly well.
Optimal image quality required at least 10 feet of projection distance. The built-in speaker delivers passable but noticeably thin audio - we'd strongly recommend pairing it with external speakers for better sound.
The user interface deserves praise for its simplicity. Setup and navigation proved easier than on some premium models we've tested, demonstrating how a streamlined budget approach can sometimes be beneficial.
Overall, the Formovie Episode One makes an excellent entry-level projector. While it doesn't excel in any single area, it offers solid all-around performance that should satisfy casual users perfectly.
