Jason Kingsley, the CEO of Rebellion, has expressed an open stance on the possibility of developing Evil Genius 3. While he refrains from making any official announcements at this point, Kingsley's affection for the franchise is clear. He is currently exploring innovative ways to elevate the series to new heights.
Kingsley highlighted that the theme of world domination, central to the Evil Genius series, could be expanded beyond the traditional base-building simulator genre into other strategic formats. Although specific projects remain in the conceptual stage, the team at Rebellion is diligently brainstorming fresh concepts to shape the future of the franchise.
When Evil Genius 2 was released in 2021, it garnered "mostly positive" reviews from critics on Metacritic. However, the reception among regular players was less enthusiastic. Despite enhancements in graphics and efforts to address previous flaws, the sequel did not meet the expectations set by its predecessor. Players voiced their disappointment over issues such as the global map, the decline in the quality of minions and structures, and numerous other shortcomings compared to the original Evil Genius.
