The God of War Ragnarök version 06.02 update has arrived, celebrating the franchise's 20th anniversary with the new Dark Odyssey Collection.
Santa Monica Studio has released the complete patch notes detailing this special update. It includes the Dark Odyssey cosmetic sets for Kratos, Atreus, and Freya, along with a stylish new look for all of Kratos’ divine weapons. This entire content bundle is available right now at no additional cost.
Beyond the Norse-themed items in this new update, players now have access to a special customization feature. The "Edit Appearance" option lets you select your preferred visual style without affecting the stats or skills of your equipped armor. Whether you haven't yet witnessed Kratos' battle with Thor and Odin or are simply revisiting the adventure, now is a perfect time to dive into the sequel on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, or PC.
While the Dark Odyssey Collection equips Kratos with a host of cosmetic options that long-time fans will appreciate, it may not be the full anniversary celebration some had anticipated from Santa Monica Studio.
Following the update's announcement last week, some enthusiasts expressed a desire for modern remasters of classics like God of War, God of War II, and God of War III. Currently, there are no announced plans for such reimaginings, and there is little indication they will be revealed in the near future.
Nevertheless, these additions, combined with other bonuses like new merchandise and vinyl releases, show that Sony is committed to keeping God of War fans engaged for the long term.
