Recent online speculation suggested a major God of War announcement at an upcoming 20th-anniversary celebration. These rumors, even echoed by industry insider Jeff Grubb, hinted at potential remasters of classic God of War titles. However, Santa Monica Studio has directly addressed these rumors, clarifying that no such announcements are planned for the March 22nd event.

In a statement, the studio stated: "Pantheons collide! We’re thrilled to present a lineup of Greek and Norse characters for this panel celebrating the 20th anniversary of God of War where we’ll reflect on the past two decades of the series. Given the star-studded lineup and the anticipation surrounding this milestone, we want to make it clear that no announcements are planned for this event."

The event will instead focus on celebrating the franchise's history, showcasing new thematic artwork featuring Kratos and Jörmungandr, and featuring appearances by cast members including Terrence Carson (voice of Kratos) and Carole Ruggier (voice of Athena).
