Gothic 1 Remake Demo Now Available on Steam

by Andrew May 15,2025

To celebrate the launch of the "Nyras Prologue" demo for the Gothic 1 Remake, THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive have unveiled an exciting new trailer. In a departure from the original game, where players embodied the Nameless Hero, the remake introduces players to the role of Nyras, a prisoner navigating the same challenging world with the same ultimate goal of survival.

The demo, released during Steam Next Fest, has shattered records by achieving the highest concurrent player count of any game in the Gothic series:

The showcased segment of the remake offers a glimpse into its enhanced graphics, refined animations, and a combat system powered by Unreal Engine 5. While the prologue provides an initial taste, it cannot fully capture the expansive freedom of action and intricate RPG mechanics that await players in the complete version of the game.

The Gothic Remake is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC platforms, including Steam and GOG. Although a specific release date has yet to be announced, anticipation continues to build for this highly awaited title.
