Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5’s Michael De Santa, actor Ned Luke, assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, even predicting a staggering first-day revenue. Read on to discover more about what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games to Do Something Unexpected for GTA 6
GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion First-Day Sales for GTA 6
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a massive $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage on YouTube, Luke expressed his excitement for the upcoming title, highlighting Rockstar Games’ knack for the unexpected.
Luke reassured fans, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5’s impressive $800 million first-day haul in 2013, confidently predicting that GTA 6 will significantly surpass that figure. Market research firm DFC Intelligence supports this optimism, projecting over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue within the first year, with a billion dollars stemming from pre-orders alone.
The Future of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6
Luke also shared insights on the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and, perhaps, GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, remains absent from GTA Online since its launch, unlike Trevor and Franklin.
Luke hinted at Michael's possible appearance in a speculated final GTA Online DLC or even a role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested a "passing the torch" scenario where Trevor meets his end early in GTA 6 (in an interview with ScreenRant, January 2025), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite both actors’ enthusiasm, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6 May Be in the Testing Phase
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. In a now-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York emphasized GTA 6’s unique unpredictability compared to other open-world games: "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
York believes the game is currently in internal testing, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras," and suggesting it's at least playable, with numerous testers potentially having already experienced it.
Since its initial trailer reveal in December 2023, Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped about GTA 6. While Take-Two Interactive’s 2024 financial report hinted at a Fall 2025 release, no official release date has been confirmed.
