GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

The future of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) on PC remains unconfirmed, but recent statements from Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, suggest a potential PC release down the line. Dive into the latest developments and what this could mean for GTA 6's future.

GTA 6 on PC: Unconfirmed, Yet Teased

GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

While Grand Theft Auto 6 has not been officially announced for PC, hints from Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, during an interview with IGN on February 10, 2025, suggest that a PC version could be on the horizon. Zelnick highlighted that while their upcoming title, Civilization 7, will launch simultaneously on console and PC, Rockstar Games typically adopts a staggered release strategy across different platforms.

Reflecting on past releases, GTA 5 initially launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and finally on PC in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, with a PC release following in November 2019. Although no concrete confirmation has been given for GTA 6 on PC, Zelnick's comments imply a strong interest in eventually bringing the game to the platform. Fans had hoped for a simultaneous PC launch, given the game's anticipated scale and popularity.

Take-Two's Confidence in GTA 6's Multiplatform Success

Zelnick emphasized the growing significance of the PC market, noting that PC versions of multiplatform games can account for up to 40% of total sales. He remains optimistic about GTA 6's performance across all platforms, despite reports of declining console sales for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Zelnick believes that major titles like GTA 6 can drive console sales, stating, "When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles."

He further predicted a significant increase in console sales in 2025 due to a robust release schedule from various publishers, including Take-Two. Zelnick's confidence in the market's growth, particularly on PC, underscores the potential for GTA 6 to eventually thrive on this platform.

GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, though no specific date has been announced. Keep an eye on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates and news.

He noted their long-standing relationship with Nintendo and the evolving demographics of the Switch user base, which now supports a broader audience. With Civilization 7 already confirmed for the Switch, Zelnick indicated a positive outlook for further support of the platform, stating, "While we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch."
