Numerous appearances and disappearances at gaming events, and even a seeming confirmation from Microsoft of a pre-June 2023 release, have left fans yearning for news. The recent lack of announcement at The Game Awards only fueled the anticipation. Could the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 Direct finally bring the news?

The current excitement stems from a seemingly innocuous image: a chocolate cake. Team Cherry co-director William Pellen changed his Twitter/X profile picture to a chocolate cake on January 15th, accompanied by the tweet: "something big is coming. keep your eyes closed tomorrow."
