Konami hints at a possible next-gen release of Metal Gear Solid 4, fueling speculation about its inclusion in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.
Konami Hints at MGS4's Next-Gen Debut
MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 May Include Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake
Konami producer Noriaki Okamura recently spoke with IGN, subtly suggesting the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) remake within MGS Master Collection Vol. 2, alongside next-gen ports. While acknowledging the considerable fan interest in bringing the 2008 PS3 exclusive to modern platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Okamura remained elusive about concrete plans.
Okamura stated to IGN, "We're certainly aware of the strong desire for MGS4 to be available on newer platforms. With Vol. 1 encompassing MGS 1-3...well, you can probably draw your own conclusions! Internally, we're still evaluating the best path forward for the series. Therefore, we can't offer any specific details right now. But stay tuned!"
The possibility of MGS4's inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2 has been a topic of much fan discussion. Following the successful release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1—featuring remastered versions of the first three games for PS5, Xbox, PC, and Switch—hope for an MGS4 port has grown.
Rumors intensified last year when placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline. IGN reported these titles as potential candidates for Master Collection Vol. 2, although Konami has yet to confirm this.
Further fueling speculation, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media last November. Currently, Konami remains tight-lipped regarding the contents and concrete plans for Master Collection Vol. 2, leaving the fate of an MGS4 remake shrouded in mystery.
