KPop Demon Hunters Now Reigns as Netflix's Most-Watched Film Ever
New data released by Netflix confirms KPop Demon Hunters has smashed viewing records, attracting 25.4 million additional views between August 18-24. Since its June premiere, the animated feature has accumulated a staggering 236 million views.
Remarkably, the film's viewership has maintained near-zero decline for three consecutive weeks - an unprecedented achievement in streaming history. Industry analysts predict another surge thanks to the newly released Sing-Along Event, whose viewership counts toward the original film's total despite being separate content.
The musical fantasy previously claimed the title of Netflix's most-watched animated film in July.
KPop Demon Hunters dethroned previous record-holder Red Notice (230.9M views), outpacing other hits like Carry-On, Don't Look Up, and The Adam Project. Last week's chart saw Night Always Comes trailing at 12.3 million views, followed by Welcome to Sudden Death, My Oxford Year, and Home.
The Sony Pictures Animation production follows Huntrix, a K-pop trio secretly battling demonic forces to prevent humanity's destruction. Our 8/10 review praised it as "a spectacular animated action musical" and "a terrific directorial debut for animator Maggie Kang."
Netflix plans significant franchise expansion including live-action adaptations, Broadway productions, and sequels - internally comparing its potential to Disney's Frozen phenomenon. The recently launched sing-along version saw successful theatrical screenings nationwide last weekend.
