League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests following significant player feedback. Read on to learn more about this upcoming update and other changes coming to LoL.

League of Legends Responds to Player Feedback

The Return of Hextech Chests

Responding to player concerns, League of Legends (LoL) is reinstating Hextech Chests. A developer update posted on February 27, 2025, on Riot Games' website and YouTube channel detailed upcoming changes, acknowledging previous updates weren't well-received. Riot stated, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

The return of Hextech Chests was a key community request. LoL explained, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark." Hextech Chests will return in patch 25.05, with players able to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act—eight from the free pass and two via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Further Adjustments

Riot Games announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, aiming to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." The entire Exalted skin line will also be delayed, meaning fewer skins than originally planned this year.

Further addressing player feedback, LoL will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, acknowledging "clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."

To improve champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05. Responding to concerns about Clash frequency, LoL is restoring its monthly schedule, with an ARURF Clash event in March and a regular SR Clash in April.

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return

Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, will also return, with Your Shop launching in patch 25.06 and the Emporium in 25.07.

Riot Games concluded, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments." This response highlights Riot Games' commitment to incorporating player feedback to improve the League of Legends experience. League of Legends is available for free on PC.
