Leaked Battlefield Content Excites Fans; EA Yet to Respond

by Caleb May 05,2025

Despite the strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) that EA required players to sign in order to prevent leaks of their upcoming untitled Battlefield game, the content has still managed to find its way online. Dozens of videos and screenshots have surfaced, showcasing the activities of those participating in the game's closed playtesting.

As previously reported when these leaks emerged, the footage confirms the "modern" setting that Vince Zampella had hinted at, setting it apart from previous entries in the Battlefield series. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit reveals numerous firefights, glimpses of the game's destructible environments, and several new gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates out of danger.

Surprisingly, EA seems to be taking a relatively relaxed approach to these leaks. Typically, publishers are quick to combat leaked early footage due to the potential presence of incomplete animations, unfinished UI, and subpar graphics. Yet, despite players breaching their confidentiality agreements by posting videos and screenshots, EA has not issued any takedown notices.

This leniency might be influenced by the positive reception the leaks have received, in stark contrast to the lukewarm response to Battlefield 2042. Fans appear to be pleased with what they've seen so far of the new game.

One player expressed cautious optimism, stating, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" Another added, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me."

The excitement continued with another player exclaiming, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!" Someone else commented on the audio and visual quality, saying, "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."

EA anticipates launching its next Battlefield game within the fiscal year 2026, which spans from April 2025 to March 2026. Following the first official unveiling just last month, it's now confirmed that the new game will feature the return of a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a feature that was notably absent in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042, much to the delight of fans.
