The Thing's Arrival in Marvel Rivals

The Thing, a highly anticipated addition to the relatively small Marvel Rivals Vanguard roster, will become playable on February 21st.

The Thing's Abilities

The Thing is a melee Vanguard (tank) characterized by close-quarters combat. While comparisons to the Hulk are apt, his unique abilities set him apart. Based on leaks, his kit includes:

  • Furious Charge: A dash attack that launches enemies, leaving a stunning seismic zone.
  • Battlefield Support: A quick jump to a teammate, providing damage reduction for both.
  • Slam Moment (Ultimate): An area-of-effect attack that launches enemies, creating kill opportunities.
  • Solid as a Rock (Passive): Immunity to knockback and crowd control.
  • Team-Up Ability: Similar to the Hulk, he can launch Wolverine as a projectile. His primary attack is a rapid-fire punch, while his secondary is a powerful charged punch.

The Thing appears to be a frontline tank, absorbing damage for his team. Unlike dive tanks, he lacks high mobility. He could potentially replace tanks like Doctor Strange or Magneto, but his precise role awaits confirmation after his release.

Optimal Team Compositions

Based on his abilities, The Thing synergizes well with tanks like Thor, Hulk, and Peni Parker. Wolverine, and ranged DPS characters such as Hawkeye or Namor, are strong DPS choices. Healers like Mantis and Luna Snow compensate for his limited mobility.

This concludes our preview of The Thing's release and abilities in Marvel Rivals, available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
