Marvel Rivals Season 1: A Supersized Launch
Marvel Rivals Season 1, titled "Eternal Night Falls," is set to launch on January 10 at 1 AM PST, promising an unprecedented amount of content. According to the developers, this season will feature twice the content of a typical season, which usually spans three months with a significant mid-season update.
Double the Content
In a recent Dev Vision video, Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangyun Chen announced that Season 1 would include "double the playable content of a regular season." The decision to launch The Fantastic Four together contributed to the season's expanded scope. Fans can look forward to the addition of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman at the season's start, with Mister Fantastic classified as a Duelist and Invisible Woman as a Strategist. The Thing and Human Torch are slated to join the roster in the mid-season update, expected around six or seven weeks into the season.
New Maps and Game Modes
NetEase Games has revealed that Season 1 will introduce three new maps set in key New York City locations. The Sanctum Sanctorum will be available from the start and will host the new Doom Match game mode. The Midtown map will be utilized for Convoy missions, where heroes will battle through the city streets. Details about the Central Park map are yet to be disclosed, but more information will be shared closer to the mid-season update.
Community Expectations and Disappointments
While the community is buzzing with excitement over the extensive content of Season 1, some fans expressed disappointment over the absence of the rumored hero, Blade. Many had hoped the vampire hunter would join the roster to fight Dracula. Although Blade won't be part of Season 1, there remains a possibility of his inclusion in future updates.
Looking Ahead
NetEase Games has not detailed how this supersized season will affect future content, such as new features, maps, or game modes. However, based on current patterns, it's reasonable to expect that each season will continue to introduce two new heroes or villains.
With the launch of Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, Marvel Rivals is set to deliver an exhilarating experience for fans, packed with new heroes, maps, and game modes. Stay tuned for more updates as the season progresses.
