NetEase Games confirms a steady stream of new heroes for its Marvel Rivals game. A new playable character will launch every six weeks, coinciding with the release of new seasonal content.
Creative director Guangyun Chen revealed this ambitious post-launch plan in an interview with Metro. Each three-month season will be divided into two halves, each introducing a new hero. This translates to at least one new hero every month and a half. Chen emphasized the goal of continuously enhancing the player experience and maintaining community excitement.
Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls already showcased this plan, launching with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second. Maintaining this pace with diverse and popular Marvel characters will be a significant undertaking.
The game already boasts a strong roster including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. However, numerous other Marvel characters are anticipated, with Blade rumored for Season 2 and fan hopes high for appearances by Daredevil, Deadpool, and other X-Men. NetEase's continued success suggests they are committed to expanding the roster.
Season 1 also included numerous balance changes and gameplay adjustments, with more planned for future updates. For further information, see articles on the Invisible Woman's use against bots, the Hero Hot List, and the use of mods despite potential bans.
