Following the announcement of 26 additional cast members for the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. have hinted that there are still more surprises to come.
Yesterday, Marvel officially revealed the cast of Avengers: Doomsday during a lengthy livestream, confirming a wide range of actors who will join Robert Downey Jr. in the upcoming superhero film, while also announcing the start of production.
Key surprises include Channing Tatum returning to play the X-Men fan-favorite Gambit. You can view the full cast list for Avengers: Doomsday here.
However, several prominent MCU stars are notably missing from the list. For instance, Tom Holland's Spider-Man is absent. Chris Evans, who was rumored to have signed on for a role in either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, is also not included—though Evans later denied these reports.
Additionally, there is no confirmation for Hulk, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, or Rhodey. On the X-Men side, characters like Deadpool, Wolverine, Storm, and Jean Grey have yet to appear.
While many fans expressed disappointment over the omission of beloved characters, is there still hope? After the announcement, Robert Downey Jr.—who is set to portray Doctor Doom after years as Iron Man—shared an Instagram post suggesting more cast reveals are on the way.

Earlier this month, co-directors the Russo brothers described Avengers 5 and 6 as a “new beginning,” set to establish the foundation for the MCU's Phase 7.
Joe Russo shared, “The only thing I’ll say about the movie is this: we love villains who think they’re the heroes of their own stories. That complexity makes them three-dimensional and much more compelling. With an actor like Robert Downey, it's essential to develop a deep, well-crafted character that resonates with audiences. That’s a major focus for us.”
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, with Secret Wars following roughly a year later in May 2027. Before those, Thunderbolts* premieres in May 2025, the Ironheart series arrives in June, and Phase 6 begins with The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
Additionally, Marvel Studios has scheduled three untitled movies for 2028: February 18, May 5, and November 10. Speculation is growing that one of these releases could be the long-awaited X-Men film.
