Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Complete Guide
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of the VR exclusive Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. This mission begins after the anomaly clears the nosalis horde in the preceding mission. Khan uses a railcar to travel to the next station, and "Cursed" starts upon exiting.
Finding the Bomb
After reaching the defenders near the barricaded escalators, you learn an explosives crew went missing while attempting to collapse the tunnel. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for help if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead; they'll damage Artyom. Retrieve the bomb and either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.
Destroying the Tunnel
To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will automatically trigger, showing Artyom planting and lighting the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb thrown into the same tunnel area will also cause a collapse. Note: even with the tunnel destroyed, nosalises may still enter through other paths.
Destroying the Airlock
A second objective involves destroying an airlock to prevent further mutant entry. Take the stairs on the right to the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises there and interact with the support columns to plant a pipe bomb. Run immediately after lighting the fuse. With both the tunnel and airlock destroyed, follow Khan to the shrine room, initiating the "Armory" mission.
