Microsoft's new Edge Game Assist is a game-aware browser designed to streamline your PC gaming experience. This preview version offers a significant improvement over traditional methods of accessing information while gaming.
Edge Game Assist: The Gaming-Optimized Browser
Introducing the Game-Aware Tab
Tired of alt-tabbing out of your game to check guides or chat with friends? Microsoft's research shows that 88% of PC gamers use a browser while playing, highlighting a need for a more integrated solution. Enter Edge Game Assist, an in-game browser overlay accessible via the Game Bar. This eliminates the disruptive alt-tabbing process.
Edge Game Assist offers a seamless browsing experience, directly integrated into your game. It leverages your existing Edge profile, meaning your bookmarks, history, cookies, and autofill data are readily available without requiring additional logins.
A key feature is the game-aware tab page. Recognizing that 40% of PC gamers search for in-game tips and guides, Edge Game Assist proactively suggests relevant resources. This tab can even be pinned for real-time access to walkthroughs and strategies.
Currently in beta, the automatic guide suggestion feature supports a select group of popular titles:
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Diablo IV
- Fortnite
- Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga
- League of Legends
- Minecraft
- Overwatch 2
- Roblox
- Valorant
More games will be added as the beta progresses.
To try Edge Game Assist, download the Edge Beta or Preview version, set it as your default browser, then navigate to Settings within Edge and search for "Game Assist" to install the widget.
