How To Unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds

While fishing might not be central to your main progression in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, it provides a delightful diversion and its own questline. Completing this questline will equip you with the necessary tools to pursue the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy and achievement.

Begin by engaging with Kanya’s fishing questline. You'll need to complete the following side quests, gathering the required items for her:

  • Seeking the Goldenfish: Head to the pools of water in caves to catch the Goldenfish. A prime location is the Scarlet Forest in Area 6. Use either the Golden Bughead or Common Wood Minnow baits. The Fallow weather state increases the likelihood of the fish spawning.
  • Fishing for Favor: Next, target the Gravid Bowfin at the Scarlet Forest base camp during the Plenty weather condition. Equip the Emerald Jitterbait and cast your line into the water to catch this fish.
  • The Catch of a Lifetime!: Kanya will then task you with catching a Whopper. Any large fish requiring the reeling minigame will do, but Tuna is commonly used. Navigate to the lake in Area 17 of the Scarlet Forest, hook a big fish, and reel it in patiently.

After completing these quests, Kanya will assign you the Razzle Dazzle quest, your gateway to the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Follow these steps:

  1. Travel to the Scarlet Forest, specifically Area 17. Ensure the weather is either Downpour or Inclemency. Use the grill to wait or rest at your camp to change the weather conditions if necessary.
  2. Walk into the deep end of the lake until you can't go further. Look for squids swimming around. If none appear, fast travel to another location and return to see if they spawn.
  3. Equip the Tentacle Jig provided by Kanya and start fishing. While aiming to catch the Grand Escunite, your actual target for the trophy and achievement is the Goliath Squid.
  4. Watch for glowing blue shells. If you hook a squid and the reeling minigame begins, you're on the right track. Battle the creature, reeling it in when it tires. Once close enough to shore, pull it out to unlock the trophy or achievement.

That’s everything you need to know about unlocking the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and tricks, be sure to visit The Escapist.
