Netflix is venturing into the MMO space with Spirit Crossing, a cozy life-simulation game developed by Spry Fox. Announced at GDC 2025, this game builds on the success of Spry Fox's previous titles, Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, promising warm pastel visuals, soothing music, and a focus on connection over competition.
Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing
Spirit Crossing invites players to explore a vast world, build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village alongside others. Activities include gathering resources, riding on fluffy creatures, participating in dance parties, and simply enjoying time with friends.
The game's visual style draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and modern art styles like Corporate Memphis, aiming to create a timeless and inviting atmosphere where players feel at home for years.
A unique feature of Spirit Crossing is its in-game calendar system, which influences progression. For instance, trees you plant will take three to six real-world months to mature into harvestable orchards, reflecting the slow-paced, long-term design approach Spry Fox explored in Cozy Grove.
The emphasis on fostering meaningful connections is central to Spry Fox's design philosophy. Studio co-founder David Edery expressed a desire for Spirit Crossing to be a space that transforms strangers into friends.
Netflix has released a trailer for Spirit Crossing, showcasing its charming and enchanting world. You can watch it here:
