The Witcher: A New Animated Adventure
Coastal Conflicts on the Continent
Netflix Tudum, the official news source, confirms The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will premiere February 11, 2025. This animated feature adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.
The story unfolds in a coastal village, where a centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk forces a Continent kingdom to enlist Geralt's services. This time, Geralt faces a unique challenge – battling merpeople, a departure from his usual encounters with creatures like basilisks and cockatrices.
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Sapkowski serves as creative consultant, with Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) penning the screenplay. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs.
A Season 1 Interlude
The film is set between episodes 5 and 6 of the live-action series' first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's meeting in Rinde after the Djinn incident, Geralt undertakes a new contract near the coast.
The location is likely somewhere between Redania and Temeria. The short story's setting, Bremervoord City in Temeria under Duke Agloval's rule, may also play a significant role. The film's adherence to the source material remains to be seen.
