Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update Adds New Game Plus and More

by Grace Feb 19,2025

Team Ninja has unleashed a substantial update for Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection's Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, boosting it to version 1.0.7.0. This patch, fulfilling a January promise to address community feedback, introduces highly anticipated features like New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam & Microsoft Store), the update significantly enhances the gameplay experience.

New Game Plus allows players to embark on a fresh playthrough at any previously conquered difficulty level, retaining previously acquired weapons and Ninpo. While these items carry over, they'll reset to Level 1, and progression to higher difficulties isn't immediately available via New Game Plus.

A welcome quality-of-life improvement lets players conceal the projectile weapon displayed on their back. This toggleable "Show Projectile Weapon" option is accessible within the Game Settings section of the Options menu.

Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost for select Ayane attacks.

The patch also addresses a range of bugs, including those impacting high-performance PCs, game-breaking glitches in specific chapters, and more. A comprehensive list of fixes is provided below.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, initially surprising players during the January Xbox Developer Direct, is a remastered version powered by Unreal Engine 5. This engine upgrade enhances visuals, introduces new playable characters, and improves combat mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised the game's graphical improvements over Sigma 2, while noting some balance tweaks.
