Nintendo has unveiled the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a unique digital title launching alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Unlike traditional system guides, this interactive experience isn't included for free with the console—instead, it's a standalone paid game available exclusively through the Nintendo eShop on launch day.
Revealed during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Switch 2 Welcome Tour is described as a "virtual exhibition" designed to immerse players in the capabilities of the new hardware. According to Nintendo, the experience combines tech demos, minigames, and interactive elements that reveal insights into the system’s features—offering a deeper understanding of the Switch 2 than ever before.
Footage from the Direct showcased a small avatar navigating a stylized, oversized representation of the Switch 2. As players explore, they encounter informative displays detailing the console's design and functionality. Along the way, engaging minigames like Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo provide hands-on interaction that highlights the system’s enhanced controls and performance.
The Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop when the console launches on June 5, 2025. Priced at $449.99 USD (or $499.99 for the bundle that includes Mario Kart World), the Switch 2 will also launch with other major titles such as Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4.
While the Welcome Tour offers an innovative way to experience the new hardware, its status as a paid digital-only release has sparked discussion among fans, especially given the absence of a physical or bundled version. No pricing details for the tour itself have been released yet.
